Favourite Christmas Albums Part 1

Hi All,

We all have our holiday routines and since we’re in December already, I thought I would share my top 3 or so Christmas albums with you.  I’m not saying that they’re the best, but to me they are the ones that I can’t do without. Some of you may know these, others you may not.  I will post them over the next few weeks. In no particular order here goes:

Ray Charles – The Spirit of Christmas
Released: 1985

I believe this is the only Christmas album Ray Charles every released (correct me if I’m wrong) and that in itself makes it very special to me. I backspaced over numerous sentences trying to say which song was my favorite. My top 3 would have to be ‘Christmas Time’ ‘What Child is This?’ and Little Drummer Boy.

Although the drummer boy was not a part of the original nativity story, you can’t help but rock to the groove, I can listen to it on an almost endless loop. ‘Christmas Time’ is a close second. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m big on lyrics, and the words of this song just moves me, although I’ll never confess to my eyes sweating… *clears throat. Lastly we have ‘What Child is This?’ It has the dirtiest walking bass line ever, so how could I not acknowledge it.

There is also a bonus track called ‘There’ll be no peace without all men as one.’ Now you might think that the lyrics would be what I would mention here, but Ray’s vocal ability on this one is just magical. Makes me want some talent haha. Anyway. I hope you enjoyed the little peek into my brain. Feel free to leave comments on here or on twitter

Thanks for reading
